Richard K. Chiu, D.O.

Dr. Chiu is a board certified ophthalmologist specializing in diseases of the retina.

His special areas of interest include macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, uveitis, and inherited diseases of the vitreous and retina.

Dr. Chiu graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Russian Civilization from the University of Chicago in Chicago, IL in 1995. Dr. Chiu earned his Doctor of Osteopathy and graduated with honors from Chicago College of Osteopathic Medicine in 2000. He completed his residency in ophthalmology at Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit, Michigan where he served as chief resident and was awarded for both teaching and research. He subsequently completed a 2 year fellowship in vitreoretinal surgery at the National Retina Institute in Towson, Maryland where he participated in investigational studies in age-related macular degeneration.

Dr. Chiu is a diplomat of the American Board of Ophthalmology and a fellow of the American Academy of Ophthalmology. He has been in practice since 2006.
