Working in a Culture of Healing & Compassionate Care
Providing healing and compassionate care to our patients and families is fundamental to the healthcare experience at Upper Chesapeake Health. Our service theme states "we create a healing and compassionate environment by providing the finest in care, courtesy, and service to all people with whom we interact." This commitment applies to our patients, guests, and just as important, to our team members.
We know we have only one opportunity to create a good impression for our patients, guests and each other; an impression that will set the tone for the patient's stay and the team member's work day. Therefore, each first impression must be a positive, lasting impression, and our team members are held accountable for making that happen.
Our belief in the concept of healing healthcare is so strong that we have committed time and resources to ensure each team member at Upper Chesapeake Health spends a day off-site at an interactive session where they engage in the experience of seeing through the eyes of a patient. At these retreats, our team members have an opportunity to play an active role in shaping the healing environment for our patients and themselves. From these retreats, team members have made recommendations on how we can improve processes that impact on the care of patients, family members, and each other. Many of these ideas have been implemented to the benefit of our patients and staff.
Along with our team members, we have also established specific standards that serve as the foundation for creating a healing environment. Our first and primary standard is the safety of our patients, guests, and team members. We take pride in our safety initiatives, which have won national acclaim. Courtesy or consideration of others needs is one of our standards. Remembering the basics, such as greeting the patient and introducing yourself when you enter a room, keeping the noise level down, asking if you can help a team member in need, make a world of difference in creating a healing environment. This leads to the next standard - environment. Creating the ideal environment for our patients to heal and for our team members to work takes into consideration everything from lighting, space, and clutter to cleanliness. Our goal is to create an environment that promotes professionalism, safety, and compassion.
Our final standard is efficiency. This means we are dedicated to developing processes that ensure our patients get the care and services they need when they need them, and our team members have the tools they need to complete their job.
If you see yourself fully committed to this culture of healing and compassionate care, we want you to consider applying on-line for one of our job opportunities.
