Wound Care Services

The University of Maryland Upper Chesapeake Health (UM UCH) Center for Wound Care utilizes a comprehensive approach to heal wounds faster and focuses on prevention in the future.


Types of Conditions Treated

We accept patients with all types of wounds. The types of wounds treated at our Center include, but are not limited to:
  • Arterial ulcers
  • Burns
  • Chronic osteomyelitis with open wounds
  • Chronic venous ulcers
  • Diabetic foot ulcers
  • Neuropathic ulcers
  • Pressure ulcers
  • Radiation-related tissue damage with open wounds
  • Surgical wounds 
  • Traumatic wounds
  • Vasculitis and other inflammatory ulcers
  • Other chronic, non-healing wounds

  • Bio-engineered skin grafting
  • Topical growth factor therapy
  • Compression therapy
  • Contact casting
  • Wound dressings
  • Debridement, or removal of unhealthy tissue
  • Biopsies
  • Negative pressure wound therapy
  • Pressure relief
  • Minimally invasive endovascular procedures
  • Minimal invasive repair of venous disease
  • Vascular assessment
  • Infection assessment
  • Diabetic foot management
  • Surgical intervention
  • Patient education & support
  • Referral to dietary and diabetic education services
  • Referral to rehabilitation services
  • Referral to home health care services
