The Upper Chesapeake Health Center for Wound Care offers patients and physicians ongoing access to a certified Ostomy nurse specialist. Our Certified Wound Ostomy Continence Nurses provide treatment recommendations and counseling to help patients resume their normal activities post-surgery. Our clinicians work with patients before surgery by pre-operative consultations for stoma siting, and after surgery to help with pouching strategies. The services we currently provide are:
Ostomy Support Group
The Upper Chesapeake Ostomy Support Group offers education, tips, support and an opportunity for individuals who have an ileostomy, colostomy or urostomy to meet fellow ostomates. Those who have recently experienced surgery or are about to undergo surgery are encouraged to attend. Monthly meetings are held on Sundays from 2:00 - 3:00 p.m. with the exception of the months of July and August. The meetings are held in the Center for Wound Care, located on the 2nd Floor at Harford Memorial Hospital.
