The Infusion Center provides a safe and
convenient environment for individuals who require frequent intravenous
infusions of medications, hydration, and transfusions of blood products.
We offer the highest level of clinical care without the stress or expense
of inpatient hospitalization. Our comfortable environment and convenient
outpatient setting supports an individual's sense of control over
their illness and minimizes disruption of work and family life.
Our certified
nursing team is present throughout the entire treatment process, providing
venous access and medication delivery. Our patients relax in the comfort
of recliners while reading a magazine, watching TV, or taking in a wonderful
view.
Individuals
who can benefit from the UCH Infusion Center include but are not
limited to:
- Individuals undergoing chemotherapy treatment
- Individuals taking medications for pain management
- Individuals with blood disorders
- Individuals requiring intravenous antibiotics
- Individuals who require intravenous treatments, but do not require
admission to the hospital.
The Infusion Center specializes in intravenous
(IV) treatments including but not limited to:
- PICC line insertions
and central line catheter care
- Chemotherapy administration
- Hydration and intravenous therapies
- Administration of growth factors
- IV antibiotic therapy, and immune globulin
- IV anti-emetic care
- Intramuscular and subcutaneous injections
- Pain management
- Transfusions of blood products
- Therapeutic phlebotomy
Specialty medications administered at the Infusion
Center include but are not limited to:
- Orencia
- Rituxan
- Remicade
- Reclast
- Boniva IV
- IV Iron
- IVIG
- Full spectrum of chemotherapy medications
Specialty services available
include but are not limited to:
- Bone marrow biopsies under supervision
of oncologist
- IV antibiotics for pre-dental procedures
- Set up and maintenance of portable infusion pumps for patients
Supplemental services also support the clinical
care provided. To create an optimal care experience, our team also
provides:
- Assessment
and evaluations
- Educational and instructional materials
- Procuring specimens for lab testing
- Ensure continuity of care through communication
of patient's
progress and
updates to the referring physician
- Participating in ongoing utilization reviews with the referring
physician to
promote the best treatment outcomes
- Documentation in the form of treatment and progress notes,
nursing
assessments and discharge summaries
