New Doctors at UM UCH

Ravikumar Bhalavat, M.D.

Ravikumar Bhalavat, M.D., joins us from Shreveport, La. He received his
medical degree from Government Medical College, Bhavnagar, India, and his internship and residency from the Louisiana State University Health Science Center in Shreveport.

Russell Brown Russell Brown, M.D.

Russell Brown, M.D., has joined Harford Surgical Associates as general surgeon. Having earned his medical degree from the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey (UMNDJ) Robert Wood Johnson Medical School, Dr. Brown completed both his internship and residency in surgery at UMNDJ Robert Wood Johnson – Camden. Prior to receiving his medical doctorate, he attended Drexel University where he earned a bachelor's degree in business administration. After deciding on a career change, he attended the Temple University Post Baccalaureate premedical program, and earned a biomedical science program certificate of completion from the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine.

Dr. Brown is a member of the Society of American Gastrointestinal and Endoscopic Surgeons and the American College of Surgeons. He has done extensive research in wound healing.

Richard Lewis, M.D.

Richard Lewis, M.D., joins us from Austin, Texas, and is the Chair of Psychiatry
for UCH. He received his medical degree from the University of Miami School
of Medicine's seven-year Bachelor of Science/MD program. He received his
postdoctoral training from The Mount Sinai Hospital in New York.

Navesh Sharma Navesh Sharma, D.O., PhD

Navesh Sharma, D.O., PhD, is the new Medical Director of the Radiation Oncology program at the Patricia D. and M. Scot Kaufman Cancer Center. Dr. Sharma is also an assistant professor in the departments of Radiation Oncology and Diagnostic Radiology/Nuclear Medicine at the University of Maryland School of Medicine.

He received his medical degree from the Kansas City University of Medicine and Biosciences and completed his residency in radiation oncology at Fox Chase Cancer Center in Philadelphia. He is board certified in radiation oncology by the American Board of Radiology

In his new position, Dr. Sharma will develop a robust clinical program at the radiation therapy center with the development of state-of-the-art technologic offerings inclusive of IMRT, IGRT, brachytherapy and stereotactic radiation services.
