Awards UM UCH Primary Stroke Center Wins Silver
The Primary Stroke Centers at University of Maryland Harford Memorial Hospital (UM HMH) and University of Maryland Upper Chesapeake Medical Center (UM UCMC) were awarded the Silver Plus and Silver Award respectively
for implementing the American Heart Association/American Stroke Association
Get with the Guidelines Stroke Program. The goal of the program is simple:
to improve outcomes for individuals who suffered a stroke.
Get With The Guidelines(®)-Stroke puts the expertise
of the American Stroke Association to work for hospital teams, helping
to ensure that the care they provide to stroke patients is aligned with
the latest scientific guidelines. With these guidelines in place, which
include appropriate use of medication, therapies and education; University of Maryland Upper Chesapeake Health (UM UCH) has been able to improve outcomes and quality of life
for its stroke patients.
Both hospitals have been recognized in the past for their achievements
in caring for stroke patients. However, this is a first time Silver Plus
Award honor for UM HMH. The Plus Award is an advanced
level of recognition for hospital compliance with the quality measures
within the Get With The Guidelines Stroke Program.
