Awards Maryland Patient Safety Innovation Center Award
The Maryland Patient Safety Center recently announced that University of Maryland Harford Memorial Hospital (UM HMH) has won the 2014 Distinguished Achievement Award in Patient Safety Innovation. UM HMH received the Distinguished Achievement award for its submission, Using IMPRV Methodology to Decrease Door-to-Needle Time in Stroke Patients. They decreased by 38 minutes delivery times of tPA, a drug associated with lower mortality in acute stroke patients. Also, they formed a work group that used the IMPRV method, which incorporates improvement tools found in Lean, Six Sigma, Change and Project Management approaches.
